The Missouri Valley Conference responded to outrage following the Wichita State-Southern Illinois game last Tuesday.
The ending of the game was decided by a last second goaltending call by official Rick Randall. Randall made the call on Wichita State 7-foot center Ehimen Orupke on a shot by Jalen Pendleton.
In an email to KWCH 12 Eyewitness Sports, commissioner Doug Elgin released the following statement:
"After a thorough review of the Wichita State - SIU game in Carbondale last Tuesday night, the MVC has disciplined men’s basketball official Rick Randall for his performance in the contest. As is customary in all matters involving league officiating personnel, the specifics of these actions have been handled internally."
He did not go any further into detail, or refer specifically to the goaltending call.
