The Kansas Jayhawks will be looking for a new linebacker this year after Huldon Tharp announced he would forgo his final year of eligability due to injuries.
Tharp, who graduated from Mulvane in 2009, already used his redshirt in 2010 because of injury. He also sat out his senior year of high school (2008) due to injury.
“Physically my body just can’t hold up anymore,” said Tharp, who has battled injuries throughout his Jayhawk career. “I love KU and have enjoyed my time being a part of the football program. Thanks to Coach Weis’ encouragement, I am going to graduate this summer and head out into the real world."
Tharp started nine games at linebacker last season for the Jayhawks, and missed three games because of injury.
“I want to thank Coach Weis and the entire KU football staff for all that they have done for me,” said Tharp. “They have treated me very well and I definitely see bright days ahead for this program.”
Tharp had his best season as a true freshman in 2009, when he was named to multiple all-freshman teams.
