Former Shocker left-handed pitcher Tommy Hottovy has been designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers. The Rangers acquired Hottovy from the Royals this past November making this the second time in about 3 months that Hottovy has been designated for assignment.
The Rangers wanted to make room on their roster to sign Lance Berkman.
The Texas club now has 10 days to make a decision regarding the lefty; they can waive, release or trade Hottovy.
