Alex Harden led the Shockers with 16 points and the Shockers finished with 8 blocks as they remain perfect in the Valley with a 57-47 win over Northern Iowa.
A layup by Jessica Diamond early in the first half spurred the Shockers onto an 8-0 run, putting them up 12-4 with 13:16 left in the first half. That's when Jacqui Kalin turned it on, scoring the next 10 points for the Panthers. Her second three of the first half tied the game at 14 and her third three of the half gave the Panthers their first lead, 19-17.
The Shockers battled back scoring the final four points of the half. First Jessica Diamond got a steal and a lay-up to cut the UNI lead to 3. Then, Jazimen Gordon blocked a Panther shot right into the waiting arms of Diamond. Diamond ran the court and dished off to Alex Harden for the lay-up just as the buzzer sounded.
UNI took a 23-22 lead into the half but the Shockers scored the first 5 points of the 2nd half and they never looked back.
Kelsey Jacobs, Jazimen Gordon and Darice Fountaine finished with 2 blocks each while Diamond nearly had a double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
