Kansas State (17-7, 6-6) watched a second-half double-digit lead slip away as they fell to Texas (16-9, 6-6) in Austin, 75 to 64.
Fouls were a big problem for the Wildcats as the Longhorns reached the foul line more than triple the number of times that Kansas State did (48-12). In fact, Kansas State did not shoot a free throw in the second half.
The 'Cats held a 40-27 lead at the half and pushed that out to 42-28 into the second. However Frank Martin's team hit a serious slump in the second half, going more than 5 minutes without a field goal, giving Texas the opportunity to get back into the game.
Texas took the lead with 8 minutes remaining in the game off a J'Covan Brown three-pointer. Kansas State did not ever regain the lead. Brown would lead all scorers with 23 points while Angel Rodriguez led Kansas State in scoring with 15. Rodney Mcgruder, Adrian Diaz and Will Spradling all finished with 11 points.
This is the first time Kansas State has lost to Texas since February 12th, 2005.
