Wichita State Shockers guard Evan Wessel will have surgery to repair the broken pinky on his right hand the school announced this evening.
Coach Marshall said “He tried to battle through the pain, but in the long run he decided it was best to have surgery and apply for a medical hardship.”
Wessel, who won 3 straight 6A state basketball championships at Wichita Heights High School, started the first 8 games for 23rd ranked Wichita State. He averaged a little more than 5 points per game for the Shockers in those games.
A date has not been set for surgery.
