The Chase is on, and all bets are off. The only thing about this of year, is nothing predictable. I mean, don't ask me whose going to win, I picked Carl Edwards to win it all in the preseason.
Brad Keselowski jumped out to the early lead after winning at Chicagoland on Sunday. But it is just one race.
"There's still nine weeks left," said Keselowski. "Any time you win, it's a bit of a mission accomplished for that particular weekend, but the Chase isn't about one particular weekend, it's about 10, and there's a long road to hoe."
And anything can happen it one race. Just ask Jeff Gordon. He watched his Chase hopes take a hit when he had troubles at Chicago. Or Denny Hamlin. He dropped from first to third in the points standings, because he ran out of gas.
This chase is as wide open as any. And honestly that's what makes it fun. Who knows what's going to happen.
"I agree, and I think when you look at the summer months and how someone would be hot for a couple weeks, it was us, the 11, the 2, the 17, the 16, everybody was streaky," said five-time champion Jimmie Johnson. "And that lead five -- that just leads to -- in my opinion leads to -- nobody knows. Anybody can catch a little rhythm here and get going."
So for now, I'll lay off the chase predictions. I'm not that good at it anyway.
