Clint Bowyer just keeps rolling along. The Kansas kid got another top 10, finishing seventh at Michigan. He now has a tighter grip on seventh in the points standings.
"It was a solid day for us," said Bowyer. "We got up there and we led then we pitted and lost track position. This race was better than last time and it will keep improving. We did what we needed to do."
And what he needs to do is to keep piling up those top ten finishes. Bowyer and his #15 team can wrap up a spot in the chase either this week at Bristol, or next week at Atlanta. Something not many expected at the start of the season, and crew chief Brian Pattie is okay with that.
" I like working under the radar. It's fun when people don't talk about you and you can kind of explore different avenues and stuff like that. It's fun. We have three good teammates and good teams."
This week's race at Bristol is a little bit of a wild card for Bowyer. Not just because it's a short track, but because Bowyer has next been that great at Bristol. He has just an average finish of 18th at the world's fastest half mile. But he does have four top fives and six top tens in 13 career finishes at Bristol.
