I find it amazing that no one is talking about Clint Bowyer as a serious Chase contender. He has finished in the top 10 at five of the six chases so far and is just 25 points out of the points lead.

One of those top tens came last week at Kansas, where Bowyer finished a disappointing sixth.

"We were definitely a top five car, it's disappointing to finish sixth," said Bowyer. "I though we were going to gain a lot more points than we did. We gained some points we just gotta keep going."

This weekend Bowyer will fight to keep himself in the Chase picture at Martinsville a track that has been pretty good for him. He has a top five and seven top 10s in 13 Martinsville starts.

"Martinsville is really a little more like Atlanta in terms of strategy," said Bowyer's crew chief Brian Pattie. "Usually the best cars run up front. At the end of the race the strategies are all over the board, but the same guys always run up front there and it's always the fastest guys from practice. Hopefully we are one of those guys. I'm really looking forward to it. Our new car is really a hot rod and looks really good, so hopefully she runs good too."

And Pattie says they honestly are not paying that much attention to the three cars ahead of them. He feels if they take care of their business, the championship will take care of itself.

"I'm not smart enough to look at everyone else to be honest. I get tunnel vision," said Pattie."We just concentrate on the No. 15. We concentrate on trying to get trophies. We figured out a long time ago that the trophies don't matter - the bonus points do. The top-10 are Chasers every week, so in order to make up ground you need those bonus points that come with winning."
