HAYS, Kansas -

The Fort Hays State women already knew they would have to play an MIAA play-in game on Monday night. But there was still a little bit to play for in Friday night’s season finale. A win would give the Lady Tigers the five seed in the tournament.

Behind the second triple-double of the season by Newton native Kate Lehman FHSU grabbed that number 5 spot winning 55-39 over Northeastern State. Lehman 10 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks.

Fort Hays held NSU to just 15 first half points while forcing 11 RiverHawk turnovers.

Kate Edwards added a double-double 10 points and 12 rebounds and Beth Bohuslabsky added 12 points.

The Lady Tigers will host the Number 12 seed, which is yet to be determined, on Monday.

The Tiger men had nothing to gain as far as MIAA seeding on Friday night and had a big second half letdown against the Riverhawks. FHSU was up seven at the half and ran the lead up to nine with 15 minutes to play.

But NSU went on a 9-0 run that tightened the game up and a last second three by Carson Konrade did not connect for the Tigers who lost 75-72.

All-American Bryton Hobbs lead all scorers with 30 points.

Dwayne Brunson had 22 points for FHSU and Konrade added 19.

The Tigers had already wrapped up the Number four seed in the MIAA Tournament and will play on Friday night.
