NEWTON, Kan. -

36 holes were not enough for a U.S. Amateur Public Links Champion, but 37 was as Byron Meth edged Doug Ghim for the title in the 89th and final playing of this tournament.

The 21 year old Meth made par on the Par 5 10th, a hole he struggled with all day, for the win. A tough loss for the 18 year old, and incoming Texas Longhorn, Doug Ghim who had a one hole lead heading into the 36th and final hole of regulation.

Meth is about to enter his senior year at Pacific University, and if tradition holds true he will receive an invitation to play in next year's Masters tournament in Augusta.
