Wichita, Kan. (Newman Athletics) -

The Newman men’s basketball team will play in front of a national television audience on Feb. 22, 2014 when the Jets take on Dallas Baptist at 11:05 a.m. in Fugate Gymnasium. The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network as part of its NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Game of the Week schedule.

 Admission for the game is free, and those who attend will be given a free t-shirt for the white-out and rally towel. There will be games and prizes given throughout the game at all timeouts, including a $500 cash prize for a half-court shot contest at halftime, sponsored by South Central Sealing and Paving. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume, face painting and poster.

 Fans are encouraged to use social media and when tweeting about the event to use the hashtag #NUonCBS Prizes will be given out to the best tweets with that hashtag.

 The event starts with a free breakfast at 9 a.m. and a pep rally and team entrance at 10 a.m. Both the pep rally and breakfast take place in the Gorges Atrium.

 "It's a tremendous honor and great opportunity for Newman University, our students, faculty and staff to host one of five NCAA Division II nationally televised men's basketball games this season," Newman Athletic Director  said. "Newman University will have an opportunity to showcase our campus, our mission and our campus spirit and pride on national television. We will work extremely hard to make this event a huge showcase for Newman University and the Heartland Conference."
 
The Jets are the seventh game on the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Game of the Week schedule as they take on the Dallas Baptist Patriots at 11:05 a.m. CST.
