College football coaches from the NFL ranks

Lou Saban
This coaching nomad changed jobs like some people change socks. He was head coach of the Boston Patriots and Buffalo Bills in the AFL, and then the Denver Broncos of the AFL/NFL. His college stops included two years at Miami, where he went 9-13 in two seasons (1977-78) but laid the foundation for future success.
