KANSAS CITY, Mo. -

The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Terrance Gore from Omaha (AAA) and optioned him to Northwest Arkansas (AA).  Gore, 23, was hitting .250 (5-for-20) over 17 games with the Storm Chasers.  He opened the year at Wilmington (A-Advanced), playing in 89 games for the Blue Rocks, batting .218 with eight doubles, a triple and 36 stolen bases.  He was the Royals’ 20th-round selection in the 2011 June Free Agent Draft.

The Royals also announced that they plan to select the contract of left-handed pitcher Brandon Finnegan and recall outfielder Lane Adams from Northwest Arkansas subsequent to the completion of tonight’s game against the Cleveland Indians.  The Royals plan to announce other roster additions and corresponding moves once they are finalized.

Adams, 24, was Kansas City’s ninth-round pick in 2009.  He hit .269 (109-for-405) with 25 doubles, three triples, 11 homers and 65 runs scored in 105 games for the Naturals this season.  He was named a Texas League post-season All-Star and also played in the league’s All-Star Game on June 24in North Little Rock.  Adams was tabbed the league’s Player of the Week on June 30, after hitting .313 during the month of June with nine doubles, a triple and seven homers in 26 games that month. 

 Finnegan, 21, was Kansas City’s first-round selection (No. 17 overall) in this season’s June Free Agent Draft.  He has split his first professional season between Wilmington and Northwest Arkansas, posting a 1.33 ERA (4 ER in 27.0 IP) between the two stops with four walks and 26 strikeouts in 13 appearances (five starts).  He’s made eight relief appearances for the Naturals, since being promoted earlier this month, posting a 2.25 ERA with two walks and 13 strikeouts in 12.0 innings.
