Oral Roberts jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and defeated Wichita State 9-4 on Wednesday night at JL Johnson Stadium.

Micah Green had three hits and Dayne Parker and Garrett Bayliff each had two hits for the Shockers, while Casey Gillaspie had a home run and two RBI.

Starter Garrett Brummett went one inning and gave up five runs on four hits.

Logan Domenico led off the bottom of the first for ORU with a double to left-center and moved to third on a balk from Garrett Brummett. Domenico scored on a groundout from Jose Trevino to give ORU a 1-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles added to their lead in the second. After a leadoff walk to Anthony Sequeira, Matt Brandy homered to left field to put ORU in front 3-0. ORU used three more hits in the inning to add two more runs for a 5-0 lead.

The Shockers got on the board in the third. Tanner Dearman led off with a single off the pitcher, stole second and moved to third on an error. Casey Gillaspie hit his ninth home run of the season to score Dearman and cut the lead to 5-2.

After a leadoff walk and a sacrifice bunt in the fourth, ORU got a two-out single from Domenico to drive in another run to give the Golden Eagles a 6-2 lead.

WSU used a sacrifice fly from Tanner Kirk to score a run in the sixth and cut the lead to 6-3, but ORU scored two more in the sixth and one in the seventh to make the score 9-3.

Bayliff led off the eighth with a double and pinch runner Cody Bobbit moved to third on a single from Green. Bobbit scored on a ground out from Kirk to cut the lead to 9-4.

The Shockers are next in action on Fri., April 11 at Evansville at 6 p.m.
