Tulane scored the winning run in the bottom of the nine to defeat Wichita State 5-4 in game two of a three-game series.
Chase Simpson went 1-for-2 with three RBI and a home run, while Garrett Bayliff and Micah Green each went 2-for-4.
Starter Cale Elam went 5.1 innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
The Shockers got on the board in the top of the third. Tanner Dearman was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and went to second on a single from Daniel Kihle. After a double play and an intentional walk to Casey Gillaspie, Chase Simpson homered to right field to give the Shocks a 3-0 lead.
Grant Brown led off the bottom of the third with a double off the left field wall. He moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a sacrifice fly from Jake Willsey to cut the lead to 3-1.
Willsey singled off of Elam’s foot to lead off the sixth and scored on a double down the left field line from Garrett Deschamp. An infield single from Andrew Garner moved Deschamp to third and he scored on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt from Lex Kaplan to tie the score at three.
With two outs in the eighth, Brown doubled to right-center and pinch runner Johnny Gandolfo scored on a single to left field from Jake Rogers to give the Green Wave a 4-3 lead.
Tanner Dearman’s first career home run tied the score at four with two outs in the top of the ninth, but the Green Wave answered with a run in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Garner singled to right field and moved to second after a walk to Hunter Hope. Garner scored on a single to centerfield from Kaplan.
The Shockers and Green Wave wrap up the series on Sun., April 27 at 1 p.m.
