The Wichita State baseball team fell to Dallas Baptist 6-4 in its home finale on Sunday afternoon at Eck Stadium.
Casey Gillaspie went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and an RBI. Chase Simpson went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI and Dayne Parker went 1-for-3, also hitting a homerun and knocking in one run.
Parker, a senior, gave Wichita State an early lead in his final game at Eck Stadium, belting a solo homerun over the left field fence in the bottom of the first to give the Shockers a 1-0 advantage.
Dallas Baptist grabbed the lead in the third inning with back-to-back hits that resulted in three runs.
After a leadoff walk by Parker in the bottom of the third, Casey Gillaspie hit a double to left field to plate Parker and cut the deficit to 3-2.
The Patriots answered however, stretching their lead to 5-2 two innings later on a triple and a single in consecutive at-bats to plate two runs.
Dallas Baptist added another run in the sixth to go up 6-2.
After Gillaspie led of the bottom half of the seventh with a double, Chase Simpson homered to left center field to cut the Patriot lead to 6-4.
The Shockers will begin their final series of the regular season when they travel to Normal, Ill. on Thursday, May 15 to take on Illinois State.
