EVANSVILLE, In. -

Evansville defeated Wichita State 13-2 in game two of a three-game series.

Casey Gillaspie went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Garrett Bayliff went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a double.

Starter Cale Elam went three innings and gave up five earned runs on seven hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Evansville got on the board in the bottom of the first. Josh Jyawook led off with a single through the right side and advanced to second on a bunt single from Jake Mahon. After an error on a failed pickoff attempt moved the runners to second and third, Kyle Pollock grounded out to short to drive in Jyawook and give the Aces a 1-0 lead.

The Aces used four hits in the third inning to score three more runs and go in front 4-0.

Casey Gillaspie singled to centerfield with one out in the fourth and scored on Garrett Bayliff’s double to right-center to cut the lead to 4-1.

UE had another big inning in the fourth. The Aces used a walk, hit batsman, error and two singles to score three more for a 7-1 lead.

Tanner Kirk singled to lead off the fifth and moved to third on an error. Kirk scored on Gillaspie’s third hit of the day to make the score 7-2.

The Aces added five more in the fifth and one in the sixth for a 13-2 lead.

The Shockers and Aces wrap up the series on Sun., April 13 at 1 p.m.
