Wichita State moved to 4-0 on the season with a 9-6 win over Central Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon.
The Shockers got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the second. Wes Phillips sent one to the gap to bring Zaire Koeiman around from second base to score. An RBI single from Tanner Dearman made it 2-0 and Dearman would later score on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 WSU.
Daniel Kihle delivered a solo shot to to left center to tack on another run in the third inning. That was one of four runs scored by WSU in that inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead that they would need every bit of in the end.
Phillips doubled to right in the fourth inning to add another two runs making it 9-0 WSU.
The Shockers would not score after that but Central Arkansas rallied hard in the 9th inning. Down 9-1, Central Arkansas scored 6 runs in the top of the 9th to come within striking distance of the Shockers. Foster Vielock would get the final two outs of the game to save the win for WSU.
