Darius Carter led the team with 19 points while Cleanthony Early added a doubld-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in Wichita State's 77-66 win over North Carolina Central.
Early and Carter each scored 11 points in the first half to help give Wichita State a 40-24 lead at the break. However, hot shooting by Jeremy Ingram in the second half fueled a comeback for the Eagles. Ingram was 8-12 from the field in the second half, scoring 27 of his 37 points in the final 20 minutes to keep the game close.
However, Wichita State got a clutch 3-pointer from Ron Baker in the final minutes and the Eagles weren't able to overcome the early deficit.
N.C. Central was hampered by travel issues. The team's Saturday flight was cancelled which forced them to split up into three different groups in order to ensure they would get to Wichita with enough time before the game.
The win puts the 11th-ranked Shockers at 12-0 on the season. Wichita State is back home next Sunday at 2 pm against Davidson.
