Kyle Freeland struck out 15 to lead Evansville to a 5-1 win over Wichita State.
Tyler Baker went 2-for-3 for the Shockers, while Casey Gillaspie went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Starter A.J. Ladwig went 6.2 innings and gave up three earned runs on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Evansville got on the board in the second inning. Eric McKibban led off with a single and moved to third on a one-out double from Devin Williams. After a two-out walk to Josh Jyawook loaded the bases, Jake Mahon doubled off the top of the right field wall to clear the bases and give UE a 3-0 lead.
The Shockers scored a run in the sixth inning. Daniel Kihle reached on an error to lead off the inning and moved to third on a single from Dayne Parker. Casey Gillaspie then singled to right field to drive in Kihle and cut the lead to 3-1.
Jyawook led off the seventh with a single and moved to second on an error. He advanced to third on a fly ball and scored on a sacrifice fly from Kyle Pollock to increase the lead to 4-1.
The Aces used three walks and a single to tack on another run in the eighth for a 5-1 lead.
