Meteorologist Mark Larson says get ready to get blown away by wicked winds and summer-like heat. Tuesday will be toasty with highs nearly 15 degrees warmer than a typical mid-September day.
Look for lots of sunshine statewide Tuesday with highs soaring into the low to mid 90s along with gusty southerly winds.
a Red Flag Warning has been issued for western Kansas where very low humidity, dry grasses and wind gusts to near 40 mph mean there's an extreme fire danger.
A dry front will slide through our state Wednesday causing winds to shift and back-off a bit, and we'll get some brief heat relief with highs in the 70s and 80s.
Temps will climb back to around 90 again Thursday and Friday ahead of a stronger cold front that will bring rain chances and cooler weather to the west this weekend then push east early next week.
