Winter weather returns to Kansas today. A weak upper level disturbance will pass over the area this afternoon and evening, bringing a chance of light snow and flurries to central and eastern Kansas. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for south central and southeast Kansas from 1 P.M. until Midnight. Snowfall accumulations will range from a light dusting in Wichita, to 1-3" over the Flint Hills (east of the Kansas Turnpike). Cold and breezy conditions will dominate the entire state with temperatures in the 20s and 30s.
Tonight any snow will taper to flurries and come to an end after midnight. Expect bitter cold temperatures with lows in the single digits and teens by morning.
Sunday looks cold, however the sun will shine in most areas. Highs will remain in the 20s and low 30s statewide. The cold weather sticks around for the first half of the week with highs in the 30s through Tuesday, some moderation with temperatures rebounding into the 40s to near 50 can be expected for the later half of the week into next weekend.
