It is not a favorite for drivers, but recent snow is just what Kansas hunters have hoped for.
The snow on the ground has brought much needed moisture, making for ideal conditions to hunt pheasant. However, experts say it might take some time for birds to gather.
State wildlife officials say there are not as many birds this year due to extreme hot and dry conditions this past summer.
"There is still some good hunting out there," said wildlife biologist Aaron Baugh. "Birds are really concentrated, and now is really the best time of the year to probably be out there hunting, with the snow on the ground, the birds are grouped up and hunters can really see some decent numbers".
Baugh says the best place to look for birds is around corn and milo fields. He also suggests not waiting for the snow to melt.
