Dreamers from New York and New Jersey can now join residents from 31 other states as the Powerball lottery went on sale for the first time Sunday.
Fans of MegaMillion, the long-standing lottery game in the area, can still pick their favorite numbers on Tuesdays and Fridays while Powerballers can try their luck on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The two former rivals reached an agreement to cross sell their tickets, creating the largest market for jackpot games ever in the country.
Lottery officials said more weekly jackpots means more money for players, retailers and important government programs.
Wednesday night's jackpot is an estimated $107 million.
