WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition after going into cardiac arrest following a motorcycle crash in south Wichita.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said just before 5 p.m. on Friday, a deputy was patrolling southbound on Hydraulic toward 47th Street South and observed a motorcycle weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle went into a neighborhood. The deputy turned to try and catch up and noticed the motorcycle did not have a tag.

The motorcycle then turned south at 46th and Ellis. The deputy decided to do a traffic stop but had not turned on lights when the motorcycle ran a stop sign and hit the side of another vehicle.

The deputy said the motorcycle rider got up and tried to run away. The deputy caught up to the individual who then went into cardiac arrest. The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition.

The sheriff’s office said the motorcycle was reported stolen.
