Wichita Police identify teen killed in NW Wichita crash Wednesday
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020: Wichita Police have identified the teenager who died in a crash at 9th and Tyler Wednesday.
Police said 14-year-old Aryana Lay died in the accident when her father, who was driving the vehicle, was driving too fast going south on Tyler. Police then said he hit a dip in the road, lost control of the vehicle and spun out, hitting two pick-up trucks.
Early in the investigation, police said surveillance video shows the car traveling at a high rate of speed, but it’s unknown why the car’s driver was speeding.
Her father is still in the hospital with serious injuries. The two other drivers were not seriously hurt.
Update 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020: A 14-year-old girl died from her injuries in a late-Wednesday-morning crash in northwest Wichita. Police said the girl was a passenger in a red Pontiac G6, driven by her father, who was critically injured in the crash reported about 11:30 a.m. near 9th Street and Tyler Road.
Police say the Pontiac was traveling down Tyler Road at a high rate of speed near 10th Street when it hit a dip in the road. The car went airborne, clipped one pickup and then spun, crashing into a second, oncoming pickup. Police said the teen died at the scene. At least one of the pickup drivers involved in the crash suffered minor injuries, police said.
Early in the investigation, police said surveillance video shows the Pontiac traveling at a high rate of speed, but it’s unknown why the car’s driver was speeding.

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a crash in northwest Wichita.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m at 9th Street and Tyler Road. Emergency crews have closed 13th Street to Central while they work the crash.
