WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update, Nov. 8 6 p.m. - Wichita, Sedgwick, and Mulvane fire crews responded to a grass fire that spread into a salvage yard Saturday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., a fire that was rapidly moving to the east was found along the road at East 68th Street South and South Hydraulic.

The fire made it through a fence into a salvage yard and caught 20 vehicles on fire. Crews were able to quickly put out the fires and the damage was limited to the vehicles.

The fire shut down Hydraulic for an hour due to heavy smoke. Five units are still on scene searching for hotspots and will work through the night.

Additional crews responded due to the area being under a high fire risk.
