WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - More stores are closing on Thanksgiving in 2020.

Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, COSTCO, Aldi, Trader Joes and Green Acres are among the stores closed on Thursday.

Dillons and Sprouts will open at 7 a.m., but close at 4 p.m. to allow employees the evening off.

The store manager at Green Acres Market in Bradley Fair, Matt Murray, says Wednesday could be a big day for shopping. Green Acres is a natural foods store, and he says many of the last-minute items on the shopping list include gluten-free pies and stuffing to accommodate Thanksgiving dinner guests’ dietary restrictions.

Murray says people are usually cooking by Wednesday, but with plans changing for many families this year, he doesn’t entirely know what to expect. “I know an amount of people aren’t cooking. And so if people are shopping less frequently and purchasing more, people might have already gotten a lot of their staples already put in,” he says.

Shoppers are more interested in pre-made dishes this year, Murray says. Cleaning supplies and vitamins such as vitamin C and zinc are also in high demand.

Save A Lot says the top 10 most-forgotten Thanksgiving ingredients are butter, baking chocolates and sprinkles, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, turkey stock, nuts and dried fruits, canned pumpkin and pie fillings, cream cheese, holiday spices, and boxed stuffing and instant mashed potatoes.
