Woman killed in SW Wichita crash after trailer comes unhitched from truck, crosses median
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020: The Kansas Highway Patrol identifies a 31-year-old woman as the person killed in Tuesday afternoon’s two-vehicle crash reported about 4:20 p.m. at Interstate 235 and South West Street. The KHP said a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup was traveling north on I-235 when a trailer it was pulling came unhitched, crossed the median, and struck a southbound 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe on the driver’s side.
The KHP identifies the woman killed as 31-year-old Sandy Reyes, of Wichita. She was driving the Santa Fe. A man and a woman in the Dodge Ram were not seriously injured.
Update 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020: Our news partners at KFDI reports one person died in the crash that diverted traffic on I-235 and West Street, in southwest Wichita. The Kansa Highway Patrol reports I-235 is back open.
One person suffered critical injuries in a crash at Interstate 235 and South West Street, in southwest Wichita. The crash happened a little after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 22). The crash happened on southbound I-235 and West Street.
All southbound traffic on I-235 was diverted onto K-42. We have a crew on scene, waiting to gather further information from the Kansas Highway Patrol on what led up to the crash.
