Sunshine returns for the weekend
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - After starting the year with record-breaking snow, we’ll have sunshine for the weekend.
We recorded 6.5″ of snow in Wichita for the New Year, breaking the daily record of 4.2″ in 1925. We could get more flurries overnight, but the weekend will be dry.
Tonight, flurries will be possible in south central and eastern Kansas from about midnight to 4 a.m. This will leave little accumulation and it shouldn’t impact your Saturday. Lows tonight will drop into the teens and 20s, so the snow we got today won’t get a chance to melt until the weekend.
Highs on Saturday will reach the upper 30s to lower 40s in central Kansas and the upper 40s to the lower 50s in the west. We will have a partly cloudy to mostly sunny sky. Sunday, with sunshine, highs will reach the mid-40s to lower 50s. The wind will be mild as well.
We will stay sunny and mild through the next week with a chance for showers on Wednesday. Highs will stay in the upper 40s to lower 50s through mid-week. Then, highs will drop into the upper 30s to lower 40s.
