WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - What began as a domestic violence call Tuesday night in west Wichita ended with a suspect being taken to a local hospital with injuries following a crash that ended a pursuit from Wichita police.

Police said at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a domestic violence call in the 300 block of North Nevada. Police said the caller reported a disturbance with a weapon at an area home.

“After officers arrived, the victim was able to leave the residence, leaving the suspect as the only occupant,” Wichita police said. “Officers contained the house and were waiting on the WPD SWAT team to respond. Before the SWAT team’s response, the suspect fled the residence in a vehicle which led to a pursuit.”

That pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed near Interstate 235 and Kellogg.

“The suspect was then secured and transported for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash,” police said.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
