Sedgwick County jail experiences shortage in detention deputies

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said the lobby at the jail will be closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. due to a current detention deputy shortage. The change is effective March 29, 2021.

The sheriff’s office said detention staff can be contacted at 361-660-0899 in case of emergency.

The sheriff’s office said commissioned deputies will be working in the detention facility to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors and inmates, Sheriff’s Office while the staffing shortage is addressed.
