Warm, windy start to the workweek
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Meteorologist Jake Dunne says it is a windy and warmer start to the workweek. A strong and gusty south breeze will take wake-up temperatures in the 40s and warm them into the middle and upper 70s this afternoon.
The dry and windy weather will lead to an increased risk of wildfires across the state today. South winds between 20-30 mph will gust to near 50 mph at times causing any fires to quickly spread out of control.
A cold front will sweep through the state tonight ushering in much cooler temperatures, but unfortunately no precipitation. Highs in the 50s on Tuesday afternoon will tumble into the 30s tomorrow night.
The remainder of the week looks quiet with a slow warming trend. Highs will rebound into the 70s by the weekend as the wind intensifies once again.
