WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Chief Meteorologist Ross Janssen says that after some severe weather to start the week, the potential will return for many areas of northern Kansas heading into midweek. While the risk areas will mostly be for northern Kansas Wednesday, the threat area will be shifting south for Thursday.

A few scattered storms will be around for the start of the day Tuesday, but many of those will not be severe. As the day continues, morning rain showers will gradually wind down. Late in the afternoon, a few scattered strong or severe storms will return for south central Kansas. Hail and wind will be the primary threat with a few of those storms.

Wednesday setup will show a warm front in northern Kansas, which is expected to help produce more severe weather for areas along and to the north of I-70.

Thursday will have a front coming back to southern Kansas, where the highest chance of severe weather will be focused into the evening. If you are planning outdoor plans for Memorial Day weekend, please be advised that storm chances may continue all the way through the holiday itself.
