WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Park & Ride Lot at the Wichita Eisenhower National Airport will reopened Monday, June 28.

The lot had been closed since April 2020 due to the pandemic. According to a release from the city of Wichita, passenger volumes have increased enough to reopen the lot.

“There were just not enough passengers to justify keeping it open and running the shuttle back and forth and paying for the maintenance and the personnel to operate it,” Air Service & Marketing Manager Valerie Wise said.

A free shuttle serves the lot 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and picks up passengers every 15 minutes from any six shelters at the lot. The ride from the lot to the terminal takes approximately six minutes.

“We plan on keeping it open, the passenger volumes have been pretty good, we are not back to the 2019 levels yet. Last week our daily average was about 18% below June of 2019 which is really pretty good,” Wise said.

The park & ride costs $8 a day and is the cheapest option for parking at the airport.

Masks are required on the shuttle buses. A shuttle equipped with an ADA wheelchair lift is available. Passengers can contact the ABM office in advance at (316) 946-4772 to arrange pickup.
