Dangerous heat, humidity for most of Kansas Thursday
(KWCH) - Storm Team 12 Meteorologist Mark Larson says most of Kansas should prepare for even hotter temps and higher humidity Thursday before a Friday front brings sweet heat relief.
Temps will soar into the low to mid-90s, nearly statewide, this afternoon and the humidity will also be the highest it has been all week. Thursday afternoon heat indices, (the sweat factor), will top-out into the 98 to 103 range for many.
A “cold” front is expected to work its way into northwest Kansas Friday morning, then slowly plow across the rest of the state by tomorrow evening. Winds will shift to the north behind the front, blowing drier air into our area, along with slightly cooler temps.
Parts of eastern Kansas could see a few thunderstorms late Friday afternoon, but severe weather won’t be a huge concern, and most of the rain will fall north of our area.
Look for dry weather through the weekend, but some scattered storms will return to western Kansas by Sunday night. Most of Kansas have a chance for scattered storms Monday.
