Triple digit temperatures return to Wichita
(KWCH) - Meteorologist Jake Dunne says after stopping just shy of 100 degrees (and a record high) on Wednesday, today will be our first trip to the century mark this year. A high around 100 degrees in Wichita may feel a degree or two warmer with a splash of humidity.
Highs around (or above) 100 degrees on Friday will feel-like 100 to 105 degrees when you factor in additional humidity. Please limit your outdoor activities during the afternoon and if you must be outside during the heat of the day, remember to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade.
A slow-moving cold front this weekend will bring the heat wave to an end. Humid high temperatures in the middle to upper 90s and Saturday and Sunday will fall into the upper 70s and lower 80s early next week.
The front will also bring showers and storms back to the state. A few storms on Friday and Saturday nights, mainly north of I-70, will be followed by scattered storms over south-central Kansas on Sunday afternoon and evening.
