Wichita Police arrest man in deadly shooting
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: July 1, 2021 - Wichita Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred in June.
Jermall Campbell, 39, was arrested for first-degree murder, aggravated battery, gambling, and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon Wednesday evening.
Police said two people were shot during a disturbance at a home in the 1700 block of North Harding, and one was killed.
A warrant was issued for Campbell’s arrest after he was identified as a suspect. Campbell turned himself in to police Wednesday.
Campbell is being held on a $1 million bond. Campbell has prior convictions of arson and criminal possession of a firearm, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.
Wichita Police have identified the man killed in a shooting Sunday morning.
Police identified the victim of Sunday’s shooting at 47-year-old Deandre Freeman. A 53-year-old male was also critically injured in the shooting but was not named.
Police said three males were at a home in the 1700 block of North Harding when a disturbance occurred and the suspect fired multiple shots, striking the two victims.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to locate individuals involved in the case.

WPD says officers received a call of a shooting at 8:24 A.M. Sunday in the 1700 block of north Harding street.
Officers located a 48-year-old man who died at the scene and another 53-year-old man who was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
