Police arrest man after chase, crash in SE Wichita
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: A chase in southeast Wichita resulted in a crash with minor injuries Saturday night.
The Wichita Police Department said an officer tried to stop a white four-door Honda near Mt. Vernon and Emporia for a violation. The driver of the Honda continued to travel north on Emporia then east on Harry to Hydraulic.
The supervisor called off the pursuit because the driver started drifting into oncoming lanes of traffic. The suspect then hit a van carrying three people, two children.
The suspect driver, a 31-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. A 40-year-old woman, a passenger in the car, also suffered minor injuries. Only the suspect went to the hospital.
According to the online booking sheets, Randall Lucas, Jr. was arrested then on multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated battery.
Police said the pursuit lasted less than two minutes, starting at 9:12 p.m. and ending with the crash at 9:14 p.m.
Emergency crews responded to a crash near Harry and I-135 after a police chase.
No other information was provided.
