WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: The Wichita Police Department has identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash on Monday at Central and Greenwich as 28-year-old Hunter Lane of Andover.

Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, WPD officers responded to an injury accident involving a motorcycle and a white SUV at the intersection of Central and Greenwich. Police arrived to find the motorcycle rider dead on the scene. The driver of the white SUV, a 58-year-old female, was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

Investigators learned that Lane was traveling eastbound on Central approaching Greenwich when he struck the white SUV, which was making a lefthand turn onto southbound Greenwich from westbound Central.

Police say speed is believed to be a factor, but the investigation is ongoing. This is the 8th fatality accident and the 9th traffic fatality for 2022.

A motorcyclist described as being in his late 20s is dead after a Monday afternoon crash involving his motorcycle and an SUV. The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. at Central and Greenwich.

Wichita police said the motorcycle was traveling east on Central, approaching Greenwich as the SUV was turning south onto Greenwich from Central. The collision happened at the intersection.

At least one person in the SUV was also hurt with what police described as a facial injury.
