WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The winningest NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball program in the nation broke through with the school’s fourth NCAA championship and the first in more than a decade. The Kansas Jayhawks cemented themselves as the nation’s top team with Monday night’s historic comeback win against North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament title game. The celebration that fans kept going through the week continues Sunday afternoon with the championship parade in Lawrence.

After the team’s plane landed in Topeka, the Jayhawks boarded their bus, making the trip back to the University of Kansas campus where hundreds of fans were there awaiting the team’s arrival at Memorial Stadium.

“This is why you go to a school like Kansas. There’s no guarantee these things are going to happen but there’s always a chance and we’ve had numerous chances and to punch the ticket twice. It’s pretty special,” said head coach Bill Self.

Sunday’s championship parade starts at 2 p.m. and the route will proceed south on Massachusetts (Mass) Street, starting at 6th Street and finishing at 19th. KU Athletics said the team will be escorted down Mass Street in multiple vehicles.

While tens of thousands likely will be celebrating with the Jayhawks along the parade route, you don’t have to be in Lawrence to witness it. When it starts, you’ll be able to watch the parade live in the player at the top of this story.
