Tex Consolver golf course won't reopen as scheduled

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Golf Wichita announced on Thursday that Tex Consolver golf course will not reopen this weekend as originally planned.

Golf Wichita cited ongoing maintenance as the reason for the delay, saying normal play will resume as soon as conditions allow. The course has been closed since May 29 because of winterkill that caused acres of dead brown grass.

The Wichita Junior Golf program will proceed as scheduled beginning June 10 at Consolver. The course will then open as a modified 18-hole Par 3 course, with carts restricted to paths.

The setup will allow new fairway sprigs to dry out as watering is reduced on the course.
