WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Kroger has agreed to pay $2.5 million to settle violations of the Clean Air Act, according to the Department of Justice.
A complaint said Kroger failed to properly fix refrigerant leaks at some of its stores between 2014 and 2023.
Kroger owns Dillons in Kansas. One Kansas grocery store had leak violations, and two others were cited for failing to keep records of their refrigerant use.
The Department of Justice said Kroger will also spend $100 million to reduce coolant leaks and bring stores into compliance.
