Driver leaves scene after crashing car into popular W. Wichta restaurant

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A popular restaurant in west Wichita reached out the public for help in finding the person or people responsible for causing extensive damage to its building.

On Saturday night, security footage from Rene’s Mexican Restaurant captured the moment a white SUV crashed into the side of its building in the 200 block of South West Street.

The footage shows the vehicle approach a parking space and fail to stop.

The restaurant’s management provided the following account of what happened:

“Saturday night, two girls pulled (in) to come eat at our restaurant and they (drove) right into our building during a rush. Instead of letting us know, they drove off and didn’t take any responsibility for what they did to our building.”

Rene’s said no one was injured, but they ask that anyone with information about the crash to come forward. The security footage captured the vehicle’s Texas license plate and its number: YJH-8484.
