Having grown up in Paola, Kansas, Taylor has been interested in severe weather since a very young age. A combination of taking cover in his childhood home's cellar during tornado warnings, the movie Twister, and watching severe weather from his front porch with his family all contributed to his passion to begin pursuing and learning how to forecast tornadoes. Taylor began chasing storms in 2011 and has documented over 75 tornadoes in seven states to date. His work has been featured on national outlets such as Good Morning America, The Weather Channel, AccuWeather, and numerous local outlets. His most notable events include the April 14, 2012 tornado outbreak that impacted Wichita and surrounding areas, the May 24, 2016 Dodge City, KS tornado outbreak and the July 7, 2016 Eureka, KS tornado that resulted in extensive damage and injuries in the city. Taylor's work can be found on SevereStudios.com, Instagram and Twitter at the handle taylorwrightwx, as well as Facebook and YouTube.
Taylor's day job is a project engineer supporting nitrogen fertilizer facilities around the Midwest. He is also passionate about music, having played the guitar since age 9, fitness, and exploring nature by hiking, fishing and running.
