Carolina is currently a Producer and Multimedia Journalist at KWCH. She's been in Wichita since 2011, and is proud to start her career at her home.
Carolina joined the team in January of 2019 as a part time weekend producer while attending Wichita State University.
Carolina was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico and immigrated to Sun Valley, Idaho when she was eight years old.
At a young age overcoming new obstacles, such as learning a new language and adopting a new culture, she knew she could do anything she put her mind to.
Carolina and her family moved to Wichita her sophomore year in high school where she gradutated from Wichita East High.
Carolina has enjoyed getting to know her community, volunteering at various places in the community, and becoming part of various organizations throughout high school and college.
Carolina began her journalism career when she attended Butler Community College after high school. There she was part of the Radio and Television program. As a broadcast student, she fell in love with telling stories and meeting new people. She had the chance to radio host once a week and report on campus stories for the student ran television station.
After graduating from Butler, she continued her education at Wichita State Fall of 2017. That’s when she first became part of KWCH as a newsroom intern. That semester, Carolina worked closely with producers and got the chance to learn the behind the scenes of a newscast. She also had the chance to go out with reporters and turn in packages.
Having that first internship reassured Carolina that broadcast journalism was her passion.
She graduated in May of 2019 with a Bachelor's in communications with an emphasis in journalism and a minor in Spanish.
When she’s not in the newsroom, Carolina is spending time with her family, watching Netflix shows and eating ice cream with her daughter, Ari.
Carolina is excited to have the opportunity to work at the job of her dreams in the city she calls home.
