Dean Jones

Dean is Storm Team 12's Weekend Morning Meteorologist. He joined KWCH in February, 2011.

Dean received his Masters of Science in Meteorology/GeoSciences from Mississippi State University. He also attended the University of Florida. Dean moved from Florida to Kansas in 1992 to experience some "real" weather and hone his meteorological skills and learn more about severe weather. He has been forecasting and watching severe storms in Kansas ever since.

Dean worked at WeatherData, Inc. for several years where he was the Severe Storms and Warnings Manager. His responsibilities included forecasting and issuing warnings for clients across the entire United States and Mexico. Dean also worked at KSNW as the weekend morning meteorologist for 8 years prior to joining the KWCH Storm Team.

He is an experienced meteorologist, who loves doing it so much, it’s a side job. He is a full-time pharmaceutical sales rep during the week.

Dean is married and has 4 grown boys and 3 grandchildren. In his spare time, Dean loves the outdoors; golfing, fishing in the Spring/Summer. As an avid bow-hunter, he enjoys hunting in extreme weather conditions during the Fall/Winter. Another passion is the gym, say hello if you see him at the NW-YMCA.
