Hi! Unless you work in a newsroom, you probably don’t know what the heck a news director does! I feel honored to work with so many outstanding people – our anchors, reporters, photojournalists, on-air and online producers, promotions and production teams are some of the best in the business! I’ve never met so many great people who are dedicated to telling our communities stories.
I started my journalism career near my hometown in rural central Nebraska. I was a photographer/reporter at NTV News in Grand Island, NE and also worked as a reporter at KPTM-TV in Omaha. I came to KWCH/KSCW in 2001 and have served as a political reporter, investigative journalist, weekend anchor, managing editor, assistant ND and now news director.
I love journalism. I believe we have the power to change lives for the better. It’s our duty to fully and accurately tell the stories of the people, issues and complexities of our community. You depend on us to bring factual information and context. You rely on us for life-saving weather information. We work for you.
I’ve had so many fantastic and impactful opportunities in this career – meeting interesting people, storm chasing tornadoes and covering the aftermath of hurricanes, even riding in a jet-powered semi (yeah, don’t ask about that one). But the best part of this job is making sure we serve you, our viewer.
At a time when there may be mixed messages about “the media”, I champion local news. We live here. Our kids go to school with your kids. This is our community too. And we strive to make it the best home possible.
OK – enough serious stuff. I am married to a pretty cool guy and have two boys and a chubby bulldog. I'm a diehard/borderline annoying Husker fan, enjoy running and also play piano and drums. My dream job (outside of TV) is to be a drummer for some great 80's hair band.
