Michael anchors Eyewitness News at 5:00, 6:00, 6:30 and 10:00. He is also a FactFinder 12 Investigator.

Michael began his broadcasting career in Dodge City where he anchored and reported for KBSD. He came to Wichita in December of 2000 and began at KWCH as a general assignment reporter. Michael has had many roles in his time at KWCH which include covering the crime and education beats and anchoring on weekends.

Michael is a two-time Emmy award winner, and has won various other awards including the national Edward R. Murrow for continuing coverage of the Carr brothers’ murder trial.

He is also the recipient of two Emmy’s and two regional Edward R. Murrow awards for his investigative reporting exposing abuses at a Wichita dental clinic for children, and for taking viewers behind the scenes of the Wichita Children’s Home.

Covering Kansas news is important to Michael. He grew up Colby and graduated from Fort Hays State University.

“Kansas is where I belong. I’m proud to be a Kansan,” says Michael.

Michael has helped lead coverage for some of the biggest events in Kansas in his 19 plus years at KWCH including the Hutchinson explosions, Greensburg tornado, the BTK serial killer, the Carr brothers’ murder trial, and the Hesston shooting.

In 2017, Michael was invited to testify before a U.S. Senate Committee as an expert on scams and how to prevent them.

When he’s not working you’ll likely find Michael spending time with his wife, Tenille, and their two girls.
